The All-Star game rosters have been announced and I must say, the fans did a great job of voting guys in. Every guy in the All-Star game will be a very deserving candidate.
For right now there are two changes that have been made. Matt Wieters and Edwin Encarnacion are injured and will not be able to participate in the All-Star Game. That is very disappointing news to a lot of people that took notice to how good Encarnacion has been this year. His bat will also be missed in the upcoming Home Run Derby. As for their replacements? Salvador Perez of the Royals will be replacing Matt Wieters as the starting catcher for the American League and Kyle Seager (a very deserving player) of the Mariners will be replacing Edwin Encarnacion on the AL roster.
As for snubs? I said the fans did a great job voting for the players and there’s really not many snubs this year. However I have two guys that are in the final vote that should be in the All-Star game. For the NL, Casey McGehee has been very good for the Marlins at third base and if nothing else should be in to DH when the substitutions start happening. As for the AL, Chris Sale needs to be on the staff. He was hurt for a short period of time but Chris Sale is a nightmare for all hitters but especially lefthanders. There’s not many starters better than Chris Sale and if it weren’t for his injury he’d already be on the team.
The All-Star game is July 15th on FOX and I for one cannot wait. I’m excited to see guys like Jose Altuve, and Michael Brantley in there breakout seasons against the best players in the bigs. I’m ready to see exciting players like Yasiel Puig and Carlos Gomez in their first All-Star game. I’m excited to the pitchers like Clayton Kershaw and Masahiro Tanaka against the best hitters in the game. Most of all, I’m excited to see what they have in store for Derek Jeter’s final All-Star game. No matter what happens, the MLB All-Star game is the best All-Star game in sports. It matters to the players and the fans because it determines home field advantage in the World Series. This All-Star game has all the makings of an all-time great.
