The Authority(Triple H & Stephanie McMahon) had a good night @ Summerslam.

The Authority(Triple H & Stephanie McMahon) had a good night @ Summerslam.

Summerslam PPV gets a solid 9 out of 10 rating for me, every match told a story & was good(even the Main Event with John Cena getting dissected like a science project) Biggest Shocker: Stephanie McMahon wrestling skills, like WHOA. Biggest Disappointment; That match that was presented as a Flag Match but was just a Anthem match, lol. Overall the Summerslam provided fun for everyone watching last night, lets review. Thanks to wrestlinginc for assisted in this article.

Pre-Show Match: RVD def. Cesaro: Limited Time in the Pre-Show Match & with RVD leaving again for a while after Summerslam, one would have thought that Cesaro would win, but Cesaro role over the last month is to get every opponent over that he is working with & he once again did vs. Van Dam. With Time this could have been a better match, but it was a good Pre-Show Match.

Opening of Summerslam: Hulk Hogan the Pitchman: Hogan came & started Summerslam in LA, Hogan speaks from the stage and says he couldn’t think of a better way to kick off SummerSlam than with The Hulkster. Hogan talks about how big tonight is and gets a pop for mentioning Los Angeles before plugging the WWE Network. Hogan then says no matter where you are, you’re paying $9.99 for the WWE Network, which isn’t really true. Vegas had to have a over/under on how many times $9.99 or WWE Network would be said or promoted. With that being said, the segment was not needed, just there to promote the WWE Network.

Match #1: New WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler def. the Miz: WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz. He says everyone in Hollywood, including Drax the Destroyer, wishes they had his “moneymaker” face. Miz says he’s going to make Dolph Ziggler the WWE version of the LA Lakers. Out next comes Dolph Ziggler. I thought Dolph Ziggler sold his butt over, him & the Miz has good chemistry in the ring together, both hit there finishing moves(Miz nails a Skull Crushing Finale for a close 2 count. Miz can’t believe it. Ziggler ducks a big boot and hits the Zig Zag for the win.) Very good match, I thought the Miz would retain to continue the heat on him, but it’s good to see Ziggler regain his 1st title since the World Heavyweight Championship back in 2013 before he got hurt & derailed his rise to stardom.

Match#2: WWE Divas Champion Paige def. AJ Lee: This Diva’s match was good, both work well in the ring, I still think they could get even better with each other, 3rd title change between the 2, but with Paige playing the crazy, obsessive woman & Frenemeny AJ Lee. It’s clear to me Lee will be leaving the WWE soon, but the 2 highlights in this match told the story: AJ goes for a kick from the apron but Paige grabs her legs and slams her face first into the barrier. Paige skips around and back into the ring & Paige goes for a move but AJ turns it into the Black Widow. Paige drops a DDT on AJ for the win out of nowhere. This Diva’s beef should continue into WWE next PPV, Night of Champions.

Match#3: Rusev def. Jack Swagger in Flag Match: This was more like a Anthem Match than Flag match, which both countries flags was outside the ring, both was selling injuries as before the match bell hit, Rusev attacked Swagger from behind & the Swagger put Rusev in the Patriot Lock, while 2 weeks ago, Rusev attacked Swagger in his ribs with the Russian Flag pole. Swagger did well in controlling the match over a green Rusev, but Rusev & his manager Lana playing up the Heel Russian angle well. At the end of the match: Rusev stomps Swagger’s back and goes for The Accolade but his ankle gives out. Rusev does the move on one foot and a knee but Swagger powers out. Swagger locks in the Patriot Lock but and tightens it, pulling Rusev back. Rusev breaks it and hits a big kick. Rusev locks in The Accolade like usual now for the win as Swagger passes out. He did not tap. After the match, Zeb comes in to check on Swagger. Lana comes in and yells at Zeb. Rusev runs over Zeb with a big kick to the head. Lana and Rusev stand over them as the Russian flag drops down over the ring and the Russian national anthem plays. This could set up one more match between the 2, maybe on Raw or Smackdown, only match of the night that could have been better with the guys in the ring.

Match#4: Seth Rollins def. Dean Ambrose in a Lumberjack Match: With the rest of the WWE Locker Room out at ringside, this Lumberjack match did it’s job & more, every lumberjack got involved, the action went into the audience & then the heel(Rollins) cheated to win. Kane come out & things really got going, as the Lumberjack from Hell Match keep going. As Jim Ross would say “It looks like a Car Wreck”

They fight up the steps. Kane comes out to ringside and yells at the Lumberjacks. Several of them go up the steps to try and bring Rollins & Ambrose back to the ring. Rollins takes out Sin Cara on the steps. Rollins tries to leave and go to the back while Ambrose is carried back to the ring. Rollins is met by a group of Lumberjacks at the stage and they won’t let him leave. They carry Rollins back to the ring. Ambrose is waiting on the top rope and he leaps out, taking Rollins and all the Lumberjacks down. Ambrose brings Rollins back in and hits a huge clothesline for a close 2 count and a big pop.

More back and forth. Ambrose uses Rollins’ curb stomp and goes for the win. Kane comes in the ring to break it up. Goldust gets in Kane’s face but Kane drops him. A huge brawl breaks out in the ring now with all the Lumberjacks. It comes down to Ambrose, Rowan and Harper. He sends them out and turns around to a briefcase shot to the face from Rollins for the win.

This beef will be ongoing, so I picked Ambrose to win Round#1, it was good to see Rollins win the way he did. Great chemistry in the ring & out between these 2 former Shield members. I expect great matched to come between these 2.

Match#5: Bray Wyatt def Chris Jerico cleanly: Bray Wyatt brought the physical in this match & Jericho is just Jericho. Wyatt told Jericho in the match that “You cannot kill me Chris, for I am already dead.” Wyatt, better than any other young guy WWE has, has a better understanding of his character and what it means to be that character, its great to see as Wyatt is being that next not normal character. I thought the match did what it was suppose to do, get Wyatt over alone & with a win.

Just he did vs. Daniel Bryan @ Royal Rumble, he did another amazing Sister Abigail into the barrier. Wyatt throws Jericho back into the ring and hits another Sister Abigail for the win. With Jericho about to exit stage left again, who will be the next prey for Wyatt, should be interesting to see.

Match#6: Stephanie McMahon def Brie Bella with a assist from Nikki Bella: Man Stephanie McMahon hasn’t been in a WWE Ring since fighting her dad Vince McMahon in a I Quit Match 11 years ago, boy has she improved. Both ladies came down to the ring by themselves, right there you knew something was up, Stephanie hit a DDT, several wrestling & finally the Pedigree like her Husband Triple H. The End of the Match: Brie keeps control and out comes Triple H. He distracts from the apron.Nikki Bella also runs out. Stephanie goes for a Pedigree but Brie turns it into a Yes Lock. Triple H yanks the referee out of the ring by his leg. Brie kicks Triple H to the floor and stands over him, leading a “yes!” chant. Nikki runs in the ring as Stephanie tries crawling out. Stephanie pleads with her. Stephanie backs into Brie and is in between both Twins now. Nikki yanks Stephanie out of the way and lays her sister out. Nikki helps Stephanie to her feet and leaves the ring, looking at Triple H. Stephanie grabs Brie and hits a Pedigree for the win. After the match, Triple H hits the ring to celebrate with Stephanie. Nikki looks on from ringside. Stephanie and Triple H talk trash to Brie. Stephanie poses in the corner as we go to replays. We come back and Nikki backs her way up the ramp, looking back at the ring as The Authority makes their exit. Stephanie looks to stop and kiss her daughters at ringside. Brie is still laid out in the ring as we get more replays. The Authority celebrates some more from the stage as officials check on Brie. This will set up the Bella Twins beefing with each other for several months to come.

Match#7: Roman Reigns def Randy Orton: Most would say that Reigns last night looked like he is not ready to be WWE Top Guy, I would say he took another step into stardom as Randy Orton controlled & guided this match very well, the match was slow, but once it picked up, it was good no doubt. Orton told a story about how good Reigns can be, but still how good Randy Orton is. End of Match: They go to the top with Reigns in control. He goes for a superplex but Orton headbutts him to the mat. Reigns crotches Orton after a big right hand. Reigns climbs back up and nails a big Samoan Drop from the second rope. Orton kicks out at 2. Reigns nails a Superman punch. Orton gets back up and blocks a spear, nailing a big powerslam out of nowhere. Orton with a 2 count. Orton poses to mostly boos from the crowd. Orton hits the second rope draping DDT. Orton gets the crowd hype and receives a bigger pop this time. Reigns blocks the RKO. Orton turns a Superman punch into another RKO out of nowhere. Reigns kicks out at 2. Orton is upset now while Reigns is still laid out. Orton readies for a punt kick but Reigns sweeps his leg. Reigns runs the ropes and nails a spear for the win. I do think that these 2 will go at it again soon & then setup a Triple H vs. Reigns program(Maybe @ Survivor Series) Reigns will be pushed slowing up until Next Year WrestleMania 31 to be the WWE Top Star from in house since John Cena, Randy Orton & Batista.

Match#8(Main Event) New WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lensar destruction of John Cena: Outside of 2 offense moves with his Attitude Adjustment & STF move, John Cena represented the destruction of the PG Era in WWE with John Cena being the face of the company. Cena looked punched drunk, got count it 16 German suplexes in the match. It was a Grade A Beatdown on Cena as Lensar with Paul Heyman is on the Wrestling Mountaintop, as he has destroyed Big Show, Mark Henry, Undertaker at WM30 & now John Cena. The Question is who on the WWE Roster will fight the Beast known as Brock Lensar, the only one I could see for Night of Champions in Batista, for Cena he needs to take time off to be missed & maybe heel for the 1st time since 2003. The Match did what it was suppose to do, get Brock Lensar over the hump & destroy John Cena.

Hopefully the next WWE PPV I will be Previewing is in November’s Survivor Series in St. Louis, hopefully it can live up to the other 3 Big WWE PPV’s this year so far. (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam)
