Ladies and Gentleman it’s time for another album review On BKD-TV. Today I will review Chris Brown’s sixth studio album X. Since this is his 10th year in the music business Chris decided to do something different with his approach. This album moves Chris from his normal pop/techno style and has a more mature R&B type flavor to it. By using old school samples in his beats it gave Chris more of a soulful sound than any of his previous works. Chris sings his heart out on songs such as See You Around, Lost In Ya Love and Time For Love. Chris makes it known that he is not trying to use auto tune when he sings. He wanted his voice to be heard without a machine manipulating it. Throughout the album, the tempo of each song is very balanced. The up-tempo songs are mixed in perfectly with the slower tempo songs. So the project definitely has its fair share of club bangers. X also has tons of guest appearances from R.Kelly, Usher, Brandy, Jhene Akio, Lil Wayne and others. He uses his guests perfectly in each song and they don’t seem to overshadow him when he sings. Chris has grown tremendously as an artist and he is proving it on his latest project. By drawing inspiration from Michael Jackson, Prince and Sam Cook he puts himself on another level when it comes to singing and performing. Fans of R&B and Hip-Hop should pick up this album. Chris Brown’s X gets a 10 out of 10 from start to finish Chris gives his fans a stable of great music that is timeless. The Highlights on this album are Fine China(has since peaked at number 31 on the US Billboard Hot 100), Loyal(peaking at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number 10 in the United Kingdom), New Flame(peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100.) and Time For Love.
