Mayweather vs. Pacquaio’s card featured three one sided fights as all three favorites win & below is a recap of each fight.
Floyd Mayweather defeats Manny Pacquaio for Pacquaio Welterweight belt by Unanimous decision.
Manny Pacquiao & trainer Freddie Roach knew they had to throw a Flurry of punches & land them per round to have a chance to beat Floyd Mayweather, but like most of Mayweather fights, his defense & counter punch took Pac-Man & his camp out their game plan & at time made Pacquiao look silly. Floyd held Manny when Pacquiao tried to get going & Pacquiao lack of counter punching hurt him dearly, So since their is no rematch in this Mayweather win, Mayweather has one more scheduled fight on Showtime & Keith Thurman could be the guy that Floyd ends his career with, Pacquiao could have a match with Marcos Madina(that fought Mayweather twice last year) could face Pac-Man, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Pacquiao called it a career after this big pay day.
WBC Super Bantamweight World Champion Leo “El Terremoto” Santa Cruz (30-0-1, 17 KOs) defeated Jose Cayetano (17-4, 8 KOs) by Unanimous decision
At times Jose Cayetano exchanged with Leo “El Terremoto” Santa Cruz but just didn’t land or do enough to win this fight as the opponent for Santa Cruz was picked for him less than 10 days ago. For Cruz his foot work is still a issues & moving up in weight for the 3rd time in his career might have effected his punching power, but now Santa Cruz is looking forward to a fight with Abner Mares which could happen before this year is out.
WBO Featherweight Champion Vasyl Lomachenko (4-1, 2 KO) defeated Gamalier Rodriguez (25-2-3, 17 KOs) by KO in 9th Round.
I would say that Rodriguez threw more low blows than real leading punch after the 2nd round as Lomachenko dominated Rodriguez including dropping him in the 9th round. Lomachecko amateur background has helped him & his footwork in the right is top notch, as Rodriguez looked & was out match by the much quicker Lomachecko.
Once again liking HBO/Showtime teaming up for a big PPV was good & maybe it could happen once again, but for the folks that paid $90-$100 for this fight paid for more that Mayweather would lose then win, but no doubt this card that was shown was worth $50 & watch PBC on NBC, CBS Network & ESPN for much entertaining boxing.
