Torii Hunter’s return to Minnesota has boosted the Twins in the AL Central Race once again.

The MLB Good, Bad & the Ugly for 7th & 8th week of the 2015 MLB Season. Thanks to ESPN.com for stats that are included in this article.

The Good#1: Minnesota Twins in 1st Place in the AL Central– The Twins have won 9 out of 11 games & have rose to 1st Place in the AL Central, 1/2 game over the Royals & 3.5 games over the Tigers.

Forgive the Minnesota Twins if they wish May wasn’t ending. After four 90-loss seasons, winning 20 games in a month for the first time since 1991 feels pretty good.

“I think maybe we’re going to change tomorrow to May 32nd and see what happens,” manager Paul Molitor said Sunday when asked if his team’s current streak is sustainable. “It’s staying in the moment. We’re doing some good things, but it’s your ability to find a way to stay with what’s making you successful, and I’m not going to get too far ahead of myself.” Minnesota moved into first place in the AL Central and finished May with a 20-7 record, securing its first 20-win month since going 22-6 in June 1991. The Twins (30-19) have their most wins through 49 games since starting 33-16 in 2001.

The Good#2: Prince Fielder leading the AL in Batting Average– Prince Fielder missed the 2014 MLB Season, but so far in 2015 he has return with a vengeance & leading the American League in batting average at .359, the Rangers are 3rd in the AL West & is in the race so far, below is Fielder key stats so far.

1st in AL in BA (.359)
2nd in AL in RBI (38)
5th in AL in SLG (.563)
5th in AL in OPS (.975)

The Bad: Philadelphia Phillies are bad– The Phillies have dropped 7 straight & 9 out of 10. The Phillies 19-33 record is the 2nd worst in Baseball. The Phillies’ losing streak is their longest since dropping eight in a row in July 2013. Philadelphia was swept at home by Colorado for the first time in club history this weekend. Philadelphia entered in an 0-for-21 slide with runners in scoring position and went 1 for 7 on Sunday. The Phillies will be having a fire sale being the trading deadline in my opinion.

The Ugly: The AL East Teams so far in 2015 Season– I would say this is the worst that the AL East has been in recent memory. The Yankees & Rays are in 1st at 26-25, The Orioles are in 3rd at 23-26, The Blue Jays are 23-29 & the Red Sox are 22-29, All 5 teams have major weakness the Yankees are dealing with age & injuries, but can be well rounded if both issues be alright, the Rays are 4th in Pitching but 26th in Hitting, The Orioles are 17th in hitting & pitching but can’t put the two together to get on a winning streak along with injuries. The Blue Jays are 1st in hitting, but 28th in Pitching & The Red Sox are 22nd in Hitting & 27th in Pitching. Somebody has to win in the Ugly AL East.
