With the College Football season right around the corner the excitement is greater than ever now that fans have seen just how exciting it can be with the addition of the four team playoff. Today we preview the Big 12 conference.

Defending Champion: Baylor & TCU

Favorite: TCU

Following the controversial tie of last years Big 12 finish, TCU looks to be the favorite to win this year behind the arm of Heisman contender Trayvon Boykin. The defense is filled with new faces in the back end however coach Gary Patterson has always had success rebuilding and retooling the defense in Fort Worth.

Team to watch: West Virginia

The Mountaineers were oh so close to being the only team in the Big 12 to defeat Baylor and TCU last season. The defense came on strong in the second half of the season and will look to continue to grow and contend with the likes of Baylor and TCU for the conference title.

Player to Watch: Shawn Oakman, DE Baylor

The man who took social media by storm with the photo of him before the coin toss prior to last years Cotton Bowl is a favorite to win the defensive player of the year award in the Big 12 for obvious reasons. His combination of size and speed off the edge will be very difficult to stop for every OT in the conference.

Projected Finish:

  1. TCU
  2. Baylor
  3. Oklahoma State
  4. West Virginia
  5. Texas
  6. Oklahoma
  7. Kansas State
  8. Texas Tech
  9. Iowa State
