Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward: Winner, Scorecard and Reaction

Sergey “Krusher”Kovalev(Right) & Andre Ward(Left) battle at T-Mobile Arena Vegas on Saturday night

Last Night Main Event of Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward lived up to the hype & was a pretty good main event. As you will see the results & analysis below, the main event wasn’t even the most questionable decision of the evening.

Curtis Stevens def. James De La Rosa by  Unanimous Decision

Stevens had a chance to really put this fight away earlier but didn’t have the speed or punching power to get at De La Rosa afterwards & credit to De La Rosa for staying in the bout. Stevens to me was a sound disappoint as he skated thru a Unanimous Decision.

Oleksandr Gvozdyk def. Isaac Chilemba in 8th Round by TKO

Chilemba didn’t look right & from his trainer Roy Jones Jr that he had right hand injury after the fight & it look like it as Gvozdyk dominated from start to the 8th round stoppage.

Maurice Hooker vs. Darleys Perez ends in a draw

Maurice Hooker managed to claim a draw from Darleys Perez

The biggest crime/robbery of the night was this fight as in no way this was a draw. The knockout power of Hooker was not there at all & Perez dictated the fight. For one of the Judges to have Hooker winning by 4, that judge should be stripped of their license. Perez clearly won this fight & Hooker wet the bed in a big performance.

Andre Ward def Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev by close Unanimous Decision

Now the result to me could have be a Kovalev close win or even a draw. But All three judges scored it 114-113 to Ward, per HBO Boxing & Ward got back into the fight after being Knockdown in the 2nd Round for only the 2nd time in Ward Career as the raw power of Kovalev is just too much for most fighters to step toe to toe with. Their is a rematch in the future with these 2 as out of big fight in the year this one delivered, maybe not the best result but it delivered 2 top fighters on PPV.
